Marcelle BB Cream Review

Marcelle BB Cream

Shade: Light to Medium
Volume: 45ml | 70ml
Price: CAD22.95 | The 70ml was on sale for the same price as the 45ml at London Drugs!

I picked this 70ml beauty up at London Drugs during my trip back home last July and after giving it a full run from then till now, I have to say that I’m more than excited to review this item. 🙂

With its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, Marcelle Cosmetics’s BB cream is the only product that is recognized by the Canadian Skin Dermatology Association. This product claims to “replace” 3 products from our beauty routine, the “lightweight moisturizer, tinted corrector and make-up base” and it has 8-in-1 benefits:

  • Evens out skin tone
  • Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
  • Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
  • Promotes skin regeneration
  • Controls shine
  • Soothes and calms
  • Reduces the appearance of imperfections

On the company’s website, Marcelle notes that the BB cream is oil-free, perfume-free, non-comedogenic and recognized by the Canadian Dermatology Association. All of that is just…music to my ears as I have finicky sensitive skin. In addition, there are a total of 5 shades for this particular product:

Upon pumping out a dollop of the product onto my palm, I felt that the texture is creamy to the touch and great to smooth onto my skin. It is a little thicker than a regular tinted moisturizer but lighter than traditional BB creams from Korea. I must say though, I like this better on its own for the weekend when I just want to balance out my skin tone and light coverage; I find that the staying power is not as good as I thought it would be, especially around my blemishes, therefore I would use a little bit of this as a base before putting on my Revlon Colorstay foundation and concealer on areas that I need covering. The coverage is flawless yet lightweight. I’m completely in love with this hydrating and medium coverage combination 🙂2015-07-24 18.21.18

I will say, however, it didn’t do much for me in terms of shine control; I was able to mattify my shiny areas with a putting on a thin layer of primer on my T-zone before the BB Cream (I used the Max Factor Facefinity Primer in this case). The pigmentation is what really made me a believer; most traditional BB creams end up too gray or too yellow for me, or making me break out altogether. This product blurs minor blemishes, pores and evens out my skin tone while giving me a healthy, natural glow with a shade that matches my Winter and Summer skin tones well. In terms of the packaging, it’s a hybrid of a squeeze tube with a pump so you are able to control the amount coming out as well as getting every last drop while also being hygienic 🙂

After using this product, I’m very interested in trying out other Marcelle products because they are recognized by the Canadian Skin Dermatology Association – which is saying a lot about the company itself – and they’re Canadian <3. In fact, I have my eyes on their BB Undereye Concealer. It seems like a pretty awesome idea for people with drier undereye areas (i.e. ME.)

I would repurchase this in a heartbeat, even if I had to order this online <3

    1. I saw the Matte version in stores but I just didn’t know if I would look…all flat and sickly with that kind of finish. I sorta like the hydrated look in that respect. How did you find it?

      1. The finish is more like a satin. I have oily skin btw so I really don’t like greasy bb creams. Also the matte version has really good coverage- medium I’d say.

      2. With that…I’ve just placed an order for the Matte version to come with my Marcelle order to come in. I can’t wait to try it out 🙂 Thanks for the comment 🙂
