Estée Lauder Sumptuous Lash Mascara Review
Continuing with the samples that I received with my Estée Lauder purchases, I’ve tried out both the Sumptuous and Sumptuous Extreme mascaras on my sparse, stubby Asian lashes for the past couple of weeks and now I’m ready to give my verdict:
Sumptuous Lash Mascara
Shade: Extreme Black
The brush itself is large considering that this was a sample size but I think this was Estée Lauder’s way of having customers get the full experience of the product even in a sample size. The brush narrows and tapers into a tip that is easy to maneuver along the entire lash line, top and bottom; what I noticed was that the mascara added a slightly feathery and separating effect to my sparse lashes; at this point, I’d already decided that perhaps the Sumptuous Extreme would be the better choice to do the volumizing 🙂
With this mascara, I was able to do several swipes through my lashes without getting any clumping and so I feel that this is a mascara that you could layer without getting spidery, clumpy lashes. However, bear in mind that this mascara didn’t do much other than lengthening, in my case at least, and so I felt that my lashes looked..sparse but daddy long leg-like on my eyes. 🙁 In addition, I noticed that the drying time with this mascara is average, and I didn’t get any of the mascara onto my face when I blinked after putting it on; my lashes felt incredibly lightweight, flexible and bendable. I was able to push and gently rub against my lashes without feeling a crunchy, tight feeling along my lashline; in addition, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t experience any flaking even at the end of a long workday.
However, in my case, I feel that it didn’t do much in the curling department as even though I’d already swiped on a lash base and curled my lashes before putting on the mascara, the mascara managed to straighten the lashes out a little and thus I ended up with less curve than what I would prefer with my lashes. I feel that this might not be an issues for those who are blessed with naturally full, fluttery lashes as this could definitely be a regular mascara one could use where you could control the dramatic effect that you could take with your lashes when you use this mascara 🙂
All in all, I’ve decided that while this is a very good mascara, it didn’t do much for my kind of lashes; ladies who have the nice, full fluttery lashes, you would appreciate this mascara much more because the effects would be that much more prominent 🙂
