Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizer (Mattifying)
For combination skin, it’s tricky trying to find the right primer to set the base for your foundation — sometimes your face is just dry and you need something a little more hydrating and other times you need something to keep that shininess at bay for your T-zone. As such, it’s important to find the right combination of primers for different parts of your face.
I tend to have a relatively dry base to begin with, so for the most part, I do use different primers for different parts of my face. Continuing with my purchase of the Nourishing Equalizer, after applying the Nourishing Equalizer for my whole face, I used a very small amount of the Mattifying Equalizer for my T-zone. At this point, I had made some changes to my skincare by adding a facial oil at night and stopping any potentially drying facial treatments (i.e. whitening/brightening products are usually the culprits for this kind of situation) for the time being. Given my combination skin type, my T-zone tends to get a wee bit oilier by midday even in a drier, colder climate. As such, I thought it’d be a good idea to use a Mattifying Equalizer for my T-zone and test run it to see if it would hold up well during the winter and most likely use during the summer as well.
Housed in the same travel-friendly plastic squeeze tube, the primer is of a sherbet-like consistency and there was no discernible fragrance; this primer is part of the base primers from the Equalizer set as they’re generally used before any of the color-correcting ones in the series. I found that although I’ve had to make some adjustments in my skin care so that my skin feels more hydrated and moisturized, combined with the Nourishing Equalizer, my complexion looks and feel more balanced. I would encourage those who have combination skin like me to not use this Mattifying Equalizer all over their face as it does hold up to its name: it controls the oil well LOL 😀 Those who have oily skin will most likely like this all over their face because it helps balance out their complexion and their makeup will hold up much better 🙂
All in all, I liked this primer for my T-zone and this one tube will last me a very long time <3
