Price: CAD26.99
Volume: 30ml
Shade: Light to Medium
SPF: 25

Continuing with my Marcelle haul, readers of this blog will know that I love, love, LOVE Marcelle’s skincare and cosmetics products; I first tried out their BB Creams (both the original Beauty Balm one and the 24hr Intense Moisture one) and my skin has never been happier.

This time around, I wanted to branch out and try some of their other base products, and I came across this do-it-all product that is called a DD cream. As the name suggests, this product functions as an all-in-one powerhouse that will correct and protect your skin from environmental aggressors. Infused with platinum, this DD cream comes with all the benefits that their original BB cream(s) came with plus SPF 25 and the added benefits of tightening pores and soothing and calming dry/damaged skin. In addition, this product is carries the same promises as their other base items, which is definitely music to the ears of those who have sensitive skin:

  • Hypo-allergenic
  • Dermatologist tested
  • 100% Paraben free
  • 100% Oil free
  • 100% Perfume free
  • Non-comedogenic

With this DD cream, I’ve used it on its own (sheer coverage), as a base before foundation (sheer-to-medium coverage), as well as on top of a primer/makeup base and underneath a foundation (medium to medium/full coverage). I liked the fact that this was flexible enough for me to wear out on its own with concealer(s) where I needed it, or layered with other base products for a higher coverage. On all accounts, I found that my skin looked smoother and even-toned; in addition, I noticed that the hydration was quite good for both humid and drier climates as even after a long work day, my skin looked dewy with a healthy glow as opposed to oily and gross. On another note, I personally like to dust powder on top of this regardless of whether or not it is layered with another base/foundation or used it on its own because I’m not a fan of having a semi-sticky face out and about in a city where smog and dust are rife and will cling to anything remotely moist. UGH.

Given that I’m an avid proponent of proper sun care, I like the fact that this has SPF added to it, albeit not nearly as high as I would prefer (it’s SPF50 for me people <3); this would be good for those who forget to put on a separate sunscreen and they can just use this as it’s better than a) no sunscreen and b) you get to even out your skintone to a natural finish. If you’re normally pretty good with applying sunscreen, you can choose this little powerhouse or opt for any of the following multi-taskers:

Marcelle BB Roll-on Concealer Review

Marcelle BB Roll-on Concealerimage

As someone who suffers from dry-ass eyes and dark circles from seasonal allergies, finding the right undereye concealer for the season/skin condition that I have has been an uphill battle; they either settle into my fine lines or look all patchy, dry or gross midday. From my Marcelle haul, I wanted to give this clicky-pen roller ball undereye concealer a shot because I fell in love with their BB creams to begin with.

I had lots of fun trying this out for the past couple of days to see if this concealer delivers on its promises to cover blemishes and under-eye circles, lift and tone the skin, calm redness, add hydration and protect from environmental damage, all the while brightening up the undereye area.

With a smooth and creamy texture, the roller ball cools down the orbital area as it is applied and I love how it feels on my skin in the morning <3 I gave the pen a couple of clicks when I first used it, but afterwards, two clicks dispensed enough product for both of my eyes; I applied the concealer directly with the pen and blended it out with my ring finger.

The formula, much like its BB cream counterpart, is very hydrating and my eye area stayed hydrated throughout the whole work day; I also noticed that regardless of whether or not I set the undereye area with powder or not, the coverage lasts throughout the whole work day without becoming patchy, setting into fine lines or just plain looking dry and ashy.

All in all, I will repurchase this product based on its effectiveness, shade and price point <3 If like me, you have sensitive skin and you suffer from seasonal allergies that leave you with dark circles, give this a shot 🙂 I can’t promise that this will be the answer to your particular predicaments, but I do feel that it’s one step closer to happiness <3

Editor’s note: I just got an update from Marcelle over Twitter that they’ve actually discontinued this product and instead they’ve got the CC Corrector + Concealer stepping up to the plate.  I’ll try to get my hands on this and try it out — will keep you guys posted! ❤️

Marcelle 24hr Intense Moisture BB Cream Review

Marcelle 24hr Intense Moisture BB Cream2015-12-10 06.57.48

Price: CAD 22.95
Volume: 45ml
Shade: Light to Medium

Given that my skin is combination-dry and sensitive, I’m always game for extra hydration in my skin care and makeup products that won’t end up breaking me out into itchy patches; what if you could have all of that…all in one tube?

Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, Marcelle Cosmetics’s 24hr Intense Moisture BB cream is the only product that is recognized by the Canadian Skin Dermatology Association. This product claims to “replace” 3 products from our beauty routine, the “lightweight moisturizer, tinted corrector and make-up base” and it has 8-in-1 benefits:

  • Evens out skin tone
  • Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
  • Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
  • Promotes skin regeneration
  • Controls shine
  • Soothes and calms
  • Reduces the appearance of imperfections

Having had a full run from when I first purchased this with the other Marcelle’s BB cream till now, I have to say that I’m more than excited to review this item. 🙂

Upon pumping out a dollop of the product onto my palm, I felt that the texture is creamy to the touch and great to smooth onto my skin. It is a little thicker than a regular tinted moisturizer but lighter than traditional BB creams from Korea. I must say though, I like this better on its own for the weekend when I just want to balance out my skin tone and light coverage; I find that the staying power is not as good as I thought it would be, especially around my blemishes, therefore I would use a little bit of this as a base before putting on my Revlon Colorstay foundation and concealer on areas that I need covering. The coverage is flawless yet lightweight. I’m completely in love with this hydrating and medium coverage combination 🙂

Seeing as I use this BB Cream during colder and drier months, I don’t have much of a problem with shininess as I feel that it adds an extra punch of hydration in addition to my skincare to keep my skin balanced. Much like the first Marcelle’s BB cream that I got, the pigmentation is what really made me a believer; most traditional BB creams end up too gray or leaning towards being too yellow for me, or making me break out altogether. This product blurs minor blemishes, pores and evens out my skin tone while giving me a healthy, natural glow. In terms of the packaging, it’s a hybrid of a squeeze tube with a pump so you are able to control the amount coming out as well as getting every last drop while also being hygienic 🙂 One aspect that I’d like to see Marcelle include in their BB creams would be a higher SPF option, as neither of tbe tubes that I purchased had any SPF included; the other BB/CC/DD creams in their product lines are also lacking in the sun care department 🙁

Since I’ve tried out their BB creams, I’m eyeing the Marcelle BB Roll-on Concealer for my (very) dry undereye area. 😀

I have jotted this down as one of the items to bring back to Hong Kong from my trip back to Vancouver in two weeks! <3

Marcelle BB Cream Review

Marcelle BB Cream

Shade: Light to Medium
Volume: 45ml | 70ml
Price: CAD22.95 | The 70ml was on sale for the same price as the 45ml at London Drugs!

I picked this 70ml beauty up at London Drugs during my trip back home last July and after giving it a full run from then till now, I have to say that I’m more than excited to review this item. 🙂

With its headquarters in Montreal, Canada, Marcelle Cosmetics’s BB cream is the only product that is recognized by the Canadian Skin Dermatology Association. On the company’s website, Marcelle notes that the BB cream is oil-free, perfume-free, non-comedogenic and recognized by the Canadian Dermatology Association. All of that is just…music to my ears as I have finicky sensitive skin. In addition, there are a total of 5 shades for this particular product:

I will say, however, it didn’t do much for me in terms of shine control; I was able to mattify my shiny areas with a putting on a thin layer of primer on my T-zone before the BB Cream (I used the Max Factor Facefinity Primer in this case). The pigmentation is what really made me a believer; most traditional BB creams end up too gray or too yellow for me, or making me break out altogether. This product blurs minor blemishes, pores and evens out my skin tone while giving me a healthy, natural glow with a shade that matches my Winter and Summer skin tones well. In terms of the packaging, it’s a hybrid of a squeeze tube with a pump so you are able to control the amount coming out as well as getting every last drop while also being hygienic 🙂

After using this product, I’m very interested in trying out other Marcelle products because they are recognized by the Canadian Skin Dermatology Association – which is saying a lot about the company itself – and they’re Canadian <3. In fact, I have my eyes on their BB Undereye Concealer. It seems like a pretty awesome idea for people with drier undereye areas (i.e. ME.)

I would repurchase this in a heartbeat, even if I had to order this online <3
