As part of my Travel Beauty series, one of my recent finds for convenient, on-the-go multi-taskers is this little tube of awesomeness, the NYX Stick Foundation!

The plastic cap on this makes the germaphobe in me very happy 🙂

Encased in a shiny metal casing, this stick foundation is creamy and smooth upon application. On my recent trip to Singapore, I used this as an undereye concealer and general spot concealer after my red-eye flight as I was barefaced when I got on the flight. In general, I try not to put on makeup for overnight flights – and certainly never on long-haul ones – as it generally will get all messed up, smudgey and gross on my already-sucked-dry skin. CC creams and spot concealers are a good idea if you just want to have a more hydrated and brighter face when you step off the plane, as opposed to having a full face of smack. More on that later 🙂

Available in eight shades, the stick foundation is well-pigmented and moisturizing. I did a test run with this post-flight and for the rest of my trip, where I used this as an undereye and spot concealer; in terms of my undereye, I was able to swipe this under my eyes, pat it in with my ring finger and it stayed on nicely for the rest of the day. 🙂

I will say that the staying power is perhaps in part because I was well-rested enough and I don’t have genetically dark circles – just to clarify though, I do get dark circles come late nights and allergy season and they definitely stand out on my relatively pale skin – and so even at the end of the day, the foundation simply melted to blend in with the rest of my (bare) face. Another positive aspect about this as an undereye concealer is that this didn’t crease or settle into my fine lines; this product is an excellent (and much cheaper) alternative to the YSL Touche Éclat.

For a minimal makeup look, this stick concealer gave me a dewier, healthier look while still hiding the blemishes that stood out/bothered me the most. If I were to set it with loose powder, it will stay on much stronger on the darker blemishes and most definitely under my eyes. The product is also great to throw into my makeup bag when I’m out and about and needing a quick touchup; the creaminess of the product makes it relatively easier to do touchups on potentially dry, flaky skin because it just settles it right down. A definite plus for me 🙂

Priced at USD10, this little powerhouse is definitely a bargain for makeup artists and skilled makeup lovers alike as you can also use this product for highlighting and contouring. The product’s creamy texture makes it easy to handle for professionals and beginners alike because it’s easy to blend with fingers or sponges and there is a good shade range available.

After making this delightful discovery, I’m definitely going to be stocking up come time when there’s an online/counter sale even though I think one tube will last for quite a while. Perhaps when I actually learn how and where to highlight and contour my face, I’ll get the appropriate shades for that too 🙂
