SpectraBAN SPF60 Sunscreen Review

SpectraBAN SPF60 Sunscreen Reviewimage

Price: HKD200
Volume: 100g
SPF: 60

Another sunscreen that I have on a steady rotation with my Biotherm Lait Solaire is the SpectraBAN SPF60. Much like the Biotherm one, I’ve used this on its own and under my makeup with no problems at all. The main difference here would be that this is fragrance- and perfume-free <3 If you’re allergic to fragrances or your skin is going through a rough patch, I would recommend that you use this brand instead as it is a pharmaceutical brand that is formulated to be hypoallergenic and regularly prescribed for those who have had facial treatments or very sensitive skin. Think La Roche-Posay, Skinceuticals or Avene, only…not as expensive. <3

Personally, I like how it’s a cute tube and it’s definitely portable for travel or just…sitting at home and reminding you to SLATHER ON THE SUNBLOCK BEFORE YOU WALK OUT OF THE HOUSE, GIRL. 😀 In addition, I’ve used this on its own for my face and body, especially after my morning skincare routine and before I put on my Kiko Skintone Correcting Primer. Using the dotting method, I only really need a pea-sized amount for my face before squirting out another pea-sized amount for my neck and décolletage.

Much like the Biotherm Lait Solaire, I will note here that I’m probably able to get away with using this sunscreen under my makeup now because it’s winter and in addition to having combination-dry skin, I also work in an air-conditioned environment (i.e. I sit right underneath it.); I doubt that I’d be able to do so once it gets warmer as it does add an extra layer of moisturization to my skin. Again, if you’re okay with the dewy look this will probably not bother you but if you’d rather not look dewy, approach with caution when applying this to your face.

I find that the product spreads easily and sinks in within a minute, which is very impressive for something with such a high SPF. I noticed that there’s no white cast from this sunscreen when I applied my makeup afterwards, nor did it leave any residue whatsoever on my clothes and such.

All in all, I would definitely repurchase this in a heartbeat and I suggest that all my fellow sensitive-skin friends to make this a staple in their beauty cabinets <3 Long live sun protection! 😀

All day, every day, rain or shine: Sun Protection

All day, every day, rain or shine: Sun Protectionimage

If I had to just pick one beauty tip that Mama Cappuccino taught me as a child, I would have to pick putting on sunscreen, all day every day, rain or shine. 😀 As a child, I was in scouts and I would end up not getting burnt to a crisp or
load up on freckles/moles after a camping trip (true situation: for some girls, they started getting freckles and moles as a result of the camping trips and then their frantic application of whitening treatments and lotions — which is a terrible, horrible NO when your skin is, well, fried.). Well, I have Mama Cappuccino to thank for diligently reminding me to slather that sunscreen on and reapply every X number of hours.

I have gone through different brands (i.e. Clinique, Biotherm, La Roche-Posay and Neutrogena) and types (i.e. spray-ons, lotions, liquids and makeup bases); some have stuck with me through thick and thin, others have had to be dropped as my skin conditions changed and I ended up getting terrible itchy rashes and patches (Neutrogena spray-ons, we were once best buddies but now…no more 🙁 )

These days, I find myself reaching for these more often:
